Orkney based accounting firm, Scholes CA, has made team member Ryan Allan an associate director of the business, it was announced this week.
The promotion strengthens the management structure at Scholes CA and comes as the company looks to sharpen its focus on the needs of small business owners.
Ryan, a former pupil of Stromness Academy, has been with Scholes CA for the past eight years, undertaking all his professional training with the Kirkwall headquartered firm. He gained full Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) membership in 2016.
“Our company philosophy is very much about identifying and nurturing local talent,” said Scholes CA director, Karen Scholes. “Ryan’s worked extremely hard during his time with our practice, quickly establishing himself as an invaluable member of our team, with a particular flair for client support.
“He’s a great example of what can be achieved career wise, right here in Orkney,” added Karen. “Part of his role within the firm will be helping our students as they progress through their professional training and he’ll set a fine example to them. He’ll also formally become our head of audit and assurance.”
Ryan said he was delighted by the promotion, which takes effect on 1 August.
“It’s a brilliant opportunity and something I’ve strived for since joining Scholes CA back in 2011,” he said. “The firm supports hard working, entrepreneurial business owners, large-scale organisations working in major markets, start-ups, and everything in between, so professionally it’s endlessly stimulating and challenging.
“Equally, the range of sectors Scholes CA is involved in is unique, covering everything from renewable energy to food and drink. That’s given me access to an accountancy career path I simply wouldn’t have anywhere else, so I feel most fortunate. I’m also very much looking forward to contributing to the growth of the firm, while ensuring all our clients continue to have access to the very best business support.”
