About me

I’m a writer and journalist based in the Orkney Islands, Scotland.

Born, raised and educated in Edinburgh, I studied journalism in the city before returning to my ancestral home in the islands where I worked as a reporter on the local weekly newspaper, The Orcadian.

I’ve been freelance since 2002, providing news, features and content for a variety of publications and websites.

I provide public relations and copywriting services for businesses and organisations, and also act as location manager/fixer for film and television crews operating in Orkney.

My first book, Board, was published in 2015, with my debut children’s story, Uncle Pete and the Boy Who Couldn’t Sleep, released in 2021.

I’m a Member of the Society of Authors, Equity, and the National Union of Journalists.

You can also find me on the Scottish Book Trust’s author directory, where I’m available to book for events under the SBT’s Live Literature programme.
